In 2002, inspired by the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show’s Zodia Concept bike, Honda created the one-of-a-kind VTX 1800. The VTX 1800 or V-twin Extreme is one beast of a motorcycle. Its colossal 1795cc engine boasts a staggering 106 horse power making it one of the most robust V-twins ever mass produced. It isn’t just numbers on paper though; staying true to the quality Honda builds in all of their machines, the VTX1800 can pull a quarter mile in 12.3 seconds crossing the line at 105.5 miles per hour. This is no easy task as this monster weighs upwards of 800 lbs with a full tank of fuel.

Safety is extremely important in the motorcycle world, so Honda designed the VTX1800 with a unique “linked” braking system so riders could stop this beauty as fast as it goes forward. This system makes the hand brake lever operate two-thirds of the front brake while the foot brake pedal works one-third of the front brake and all of the rear brake allowing for crisp, clean braking.

With Honda, it’s not just all about horse power however, and the VTX1800 is no exception. Available in the original “C” or Classic model, the “R” or Retro model with cast wheels, the “S” or Retro with spoke wheels, the “N” or Neo-Retro model, the “T” or Tourer Model, and the “F” or high performance model, the VTX1800 really displays the beauty of a well-designed motorcycle. With its variety of color packages, trim options, and spoke or cast wheels, the VTX gives a lot of choices to someone looking for a beautiful bike straight off of the showroom floor.

In 2003, Honda realized that their behemoth VTX1800 was just a little too big for a lot of riders. Weighing in at over 800 lbs with a full tank of fuel, it was just too much to keep up-right when not in forward motion, so they went back to the drawing board and created the gorgeous VTX 1300. Its drastically reduced 641 lbs catered to a larger consumer base allowing more people to own one of these beauties. Available with all the same options as the 1800, the VTX1300 is a true piece of motorcycle art.
