Cheap Cycle Parts No Hassle Returns

In the early 2000’s, Yamaha release their Sport Touring line, the FZs. The smallest edition, the FZ6 was fairly popular due to its lightweight body but powerful motor. Built from the 2003 R6 engine, the motor was re-tuned for a more ride-able mid-range power band. With this powerful engine and stylish half-faired body, the Yamaha FZ6 has successfully filled the role of sport tour, commuter, and sporty canyon carver with very few changes for over a decade.

To meet the needs of riders wanting more power than a 600cc bike could offer, but who were not willing to step all the way up to a 1-litter bike, Yamaha created the FZ8N. Contrary to what many people think, the FZ8 was not a re-sleeved, de-tuned R1 engine, it is its own original design. It is a 779cc, liquid cooled, inline 4-cylinder, DOHC, 16-valve, fuel injected beauty that only shared crankcase design similarities with the R1 engine. The crankshaft, bore, head design, cam shafts, throttle body, and many other proprietary parts are unique to the FZ8N.

Yamaha’s big sport tourer, the FZ1 did actually have a R1 engine powering it. Re-tuned to have a more controllable power band, the FZ1 only put out 130.7 horse power compared to the R1’s 150+ horse power. Designed incredibly well on its debut, the FZ1 has only gone through one major revision since it was first manufactured in 2001. It has had color changes and BNG (Bold New Graphics) almost every year, but the performance of the bike has only been changed once from its original release.
