Can-Am Renegade Reference & Specs
Introduced in 2006 the Can-Am Renegade is was destined for success for riders that likes to explore everywhere fast. The 4 wheel drive Renegade did not fit into the standard utility or sport class so it created it's own sporty/recreational/4 wheel drive class.
When Can-Am noticed what length customers were going to to improve the Outlander for aggressive trail riding they decided to create the Renegade to better suit the niche market. It the beginning the Renegade was not much more than an Outlander Utility series ATV's with the rack removed and the addition of aggressive suspension but over the years the Renegade has blazed it's own trail and is a dedicated offered racing machine. Sure you can do a fair share of chores with the Renegade but it begs to be flogged through the woods, over extreme obstacles, at a high rate of speed.
The original Renegade was offered in 500 or 800cc versions with engine from the popular Outlander ATV. The frame was a strong (SSTTM) Surrounding Spar Technology) making it very light and durable.They were equipped with Can-Am's CVT transmission with selectable HI/LO gearing and the front differential had a visco-loc for all those slippery situations.
For those who wanted more Can-Am introduced the Renegade X in 2007 which had all the features found the standard Renegade with a few extras for the extreme riders. The Renegade X had upgraded cast aluminum wheels with reinforcement rings, additional skid plates, handle bar deflectors, and special graphics to let other riders you mean business. The suspension was upgraded to KYB HPG shocks and the standard handle bars were replaced by sturdy Aluminum Pro-Taper Bars.
