Introduced in 1995, the Honda Foreman 400 was one of the first ATV's to have the engine mounted Longitudinally. By mounting the motor this way, Honda was able to remove some of the moving parts to construct one of the most reliable ATV's ever made. The new design allowed the motor to be mounted lower in the chassis which reduced the overall weight making the new Foreman more stable and powerful. Weighing up to 50 lbs. less than it's competitors, the Foreman was a popular choice for recreational riders, ranchers, farmers and hunters.
In 1998 Honda stepped up the power on the Foreman by increasing displacement to 450cc. The new more powerful Foreman was available with the standard transmission or the new (ESP) Electronic Shift Program. The ES was a revolutionary design at the time and earned the 1998 Foreman 450 ES the coveted ATV of the Year award from ATV Magazine. With the combination of the manual style transmission and the electric shift capability the Foreman did not have to sacrifice dependability or function for convenience. The TRX 450 Foreman design was ahead of it's time which allowed it to remain in production nearly unchanged until 2004.
Honda completely redesigned the Foreman in 2005 with a new Engine and Frame. A larger 500cc power-plant replaced the aging 450cc motor. The 2005 TRX500 Foreman was offered in an affordable two wheel drive, manual shift version as well as the manual and electric shift four wheel drive versions. The four wheel drive models received the upgraded Traxloc front differential making steering much easier while the 4WD was engaged. The new Foreman 500 was also equipped with dual oil-coolers, a heavy duty auto-clutch, and front dual disc brakes.
If you need a dependable, sporty, hard working ATV for work or play, the uncompromising Honda Foreman family is ready for the challenge.
