Before the days of the Hyper-sport Hayabusa, Suzuki’s big sport bike was the GSX-R1100. Produced from 1986 until 1998, the GSXR1100 had too much horse power and not enough handling for a big bike. Based off of old tech, the GSX-R1100 was too early for its time. After discontinuing it in 1998, Suzuki went back to the drawing board and created the all new GSX-R1000 in 2001. The GSX-R1000 was a beautifully designed bike in every aspect to the point in 2012, Suzuki boasted their one millionth GSX-R sold. To keep up with the competition and the requirements of super bike performance, the GSX-R1000 has gone through revisions almost every year. Major bike changes are listed below.
